How the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) transformed a military and political victory into the greatest lesson of forgiveness and modesty in human history.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout human history, it has been a natural rule that victors dictate terms and the vanquished bear the consequences. When armies enter conquered cities, the streets are often filled with pride, retribution, and displays of power. However, in the eighth year of the Hijra (630 CE), an event took place that changed this historical pattern forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entering Mecca\u2014the city from which he had been expelled years earlier, persecuted, and where he had lost his closest loved ones\u2014was the Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) at the head of a ten-thousand-strong army. Yet this was no display of triumphant pride. It was a moment of profound spiritual humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entering with a Bowed Head<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Historical sources state that as the Prophet (\ufdfa) rode his camel into his hometown, his head was bowed so deeply in humility before Allah that his beard almost touched the saddle. While worldly rulers celebrated their victories with raised heads and swords held high, the Messenger of God gave thanks to God for a victory that was not the result of human superiority, but of Divine grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people of Mecca, who for twenty years had inflicted injustice upon the Muslims, tortured them, confiscated their property, and waged bloody wars against them, waited in fear for their fate. According to the customs of war then and now, a reckoning was expected to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Go, for you are free”<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Prophet (\ufdfa) gathered near the sacred Kaaba. He looked at the inhabitants of Mecca standing before him in uncertainty and asked them a question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“O people of Quraish! What do you think I will do with you now?”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Quraish, knowing his character, replied: “Only good. You are a noble brother, the son of a noble brother.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thereupon, the Prophet (\ufdfa) uttered words that echo through the ages and remain one of the most brilliant examples of humanity and magnanimity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I say to you as Joseph said to his brothers: ‘No blame will there be upon you today.’ Go, for you are free.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

No executions, no enslavement, no war reparations. The second in which retribution was expected turned into an act of absolute forgiveness (‘afw<\/em>). This act opened the hearts of the people of Mecca more than any weapon\u2014people entered Islam not out of fear, but out of awe at the moral greatness of the man they had once hated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mercy as the Essence of the Message<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This event perfectly illustrates a verse from the Glorious Qur’an, in which Allah says regarding His Messenger:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And We have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds.”<\/em> (Qur’an, 21:107)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Mercy (rahma<\/em>) in Islam is not weakness. It is the conscious choice of one who has the power to harm but chooses to heal. Prophet Muhammad (\ufdfa) showed that true strength lies not in the ability to defeat an opponent, but in the ability to control one’s anger and prioritize reconciliation over revenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Does Fath Makkah Mean for Today’s Muslim?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Conquest of Mecca is not merely a chapter in a history textbook; it is a living guide for our daily lives and for our entire community (ummah<\/em>):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Victory Requires Humility:<\/strong> Whenever we achieve success\u2014in work, studies, or personal life\u2014our first impulse should not be pride (kibr<\/em>), but gratitude to God (shukr<\/em>) and modesty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Overcoming One’s Ego (nafs<\/em>):<\/strong> The greatest battle we wage is the battle within ourselves. Forgiving someone who wronged us at the exact moment we have the power to retaliate is the highest form of following the Prophet’s example (Sunnah<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Spreading Islam Through Character:<\/strong> People around us judge Islam not by our words, but by our conduct (akhlaq<\/em>). Patience, kindness, and justice are the most effective forms of dawah<\/em> (conveying the message of Islam).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The next time we face injustice, misunderstanding, or conflict in our families and communities, let us remember the day the Prophet (\ufdfa) stood before his oppressors. He had the power to destroy them, yet he chose to grant them freedom and life. In that lies the true victory of the spirit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
