The Islamic Foundation in Prague wishes all Muslims the best for the fasting month of Ramadan and a pleasant experience. We announce:
Accurate astronomical calculations regarding the beginning of the month of Ramadan for the year 1444 AH confirm that the new moon will occur at 17:23 GMT on Tuesday 21/03/2023, i.e. 29 Shabban 1444 H, i.e. at 20:32 local time time in Mecca.
On the same day, it is not possible to see the crescent moon after sunset from any part of the world. Which on Wednesday 22.3.2023 corresponds to the 30th Shacban 1444 H.
According to this calculation, the blessed month of Ramadan begins in the year 1444 Hijri
on Thursday 23.3.2023
The Isha prayer and tarawih will be held in both mosques (Černý most – Prague 9, Národní třída – Prague 1) directly after the Isha call to prayer, including the first night of Ramadan.
A joint iftar will be held in both mosques every day and all Muslims are invited.
General information:
The beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan will be on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Daylight saving time begins on Sunday 26.3.2023, i.e. 4th Ramadan 1444 H. Times of Friday sermons according to daylight saving time:
Mosque on the Black Bridge, Prague 9 from 1:30 p.m.
Mosque on Národní třída, Prague 1: 1st time from 1:30 p.m. 2nd time from 2:30 p.m.
• During Ramadan, a joint iftar will be held daily in both mosques.
• The tarawih prayer will be held in both mosques directly after the Isha prayer.
• The value of zakat al-fitr is CZK 150 per person. It will be selected from the 15th of Ramadan. You can deposit the amount in mailboxes in mosques or send it to the mosque’s bank account: 175834904/0300
• During the ten nights of Ramadan, the Tahajjud prayer will be held from 3:30 a.m.
• Eid al-Fitr holiday prayer will be held in both mosques on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.
